  • 1 ¼ teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 ½ teaspoons salt
  • 3 tablespoons canola oil
  • 3 cups flour
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter (for topping)
  • ½ teaspoon garlic salt (for topping)
  • 1 tablespoon grated parmesan cheese (for topping)
  • Marinara sauce (for serving)

Instructions

  1. Activate the yeast by dissolving it with sugar in warm water. Let sit until bubbly.
  2. Mix in salt, oil, and two cups of flour until combined. Gradually add the remaining flour until a soft dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough until smooth, then place it in a greased bowl and let rise for one hour.
  4. Punch down and divide the dough into 16 pieces; shape each into a bone by rolling and slicing.
  5. Allow shaped breadsticks to rise for another 45 minutes on a baking sheet.
  6. Preheat oven to 425°F and bake for 12-14 minutes until golden brown.
  7. Brush with melted butter, sprinkle with garlic salt and parmesan cheese, and serve warm alongside marinara sauce.
