  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce (plus extra for gravy)
  • 2 large onions, thinly sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup mushrooms, sliced
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper until just mixed.
  2. Form the mixture into four oval patties with a slight indentation in the center.
  3. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Cook patties for 4–5 minutes on each side until browned; set aside.
  4. In the same skillet, sauté mushrooms in butter until browned; set aside.
  5. Caramelize onions in remaining butter until softened. Add garlic and flour; stir to combine.
  6. Gradually whisk in beef broth and Worcestershire sauce; simmer until thickened.
  7. Return patties and mushrooms to the skillet; simmer for 10 minutes until cooked through.
