  • 6 cups confectioners' sugar (for frosting)
  • 1/2 teaspoon clear or regular vanilla extract (for frosting)
  • 3 to 4 tablespoons 2% milk (for frosting)
  • Blue and red paste food coloring (for frosting)
  • Star sprinkles (for decoration)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line muffin tins with liners.
  2. Cream together softened butter and sugar until crumbly. Add egg whites one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then add vanilla.
  3. In another bowl, combine flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add dry ingredients to the creamed mixture alternately with milk until fully combined. Fold in crushed Oreos.
  4. Fill muffin cups two-thirds full and bake for 20–24 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean. Cool completely on wire racks.
  5. Prepare frosting by beating softened butter with confectioners' sugar and vanilla; add milk for desired consistency. Tint portions red and blue.
  6. Decorate cupcakes with frosting in alternating colors and top with sprinkles.
