  • 1 1/2 cups very hot water

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a medium bowl, mix together flour, baking powder, salt, granulated sugar, and spices.
  3. In a separate bowl, combine pumpkin puree, milk, melted butter (or oil), and vanilla; stir until blended.
  4. Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined. Transfer to an 8-inch casserole dish.
  5. In another bowl, combine remaining granulated sugar, brown sugar, and pecans; sprinkle over the batter.
  6. Carefully pour hot water over the entire dish without stirring.
  7. Bake for about 40 minutes or until the center is set. Let cool for 5 to 10 minutes before serving.
