  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups granulated sugar

  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • For the frosting: 6 tablespoons whole milk
  • 5 tablespoons cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 4 cups confectioners sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup chopped pecans

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 10×15 inch baking pan.
  2. In a saucepan over low heat, melt the butter. Stir in water and cocoa powder until boiling; set aside.
  3. In a small bowl, whisk together sour cream and eggs.
  4. In a stand mixer bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add the sour cream mixture until smooth.
  5. Once cooled slightly, mix in the cocoa mixture until fully combined.
  6. Pour batter into the prepared pan and bake for 22-25 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
  7. For the frosting, boil milk, cocoa powder, and butter in a saucepan then stir in sugar and vanilla. Fold in pecans.
